Tempe Mill Avenue DistrictTempe Mill Avenue District Average User Rating: (0 votes, add your vote or comments) Downtown Tempe's Mill Avenue District is the center of activity for many major Phoenix metro events such as the annual Spring and Fall Festival of the Arts and the variety of activities that are held at nearby Tempe Beach Park and Tempe Town Lake. Located adjacent to Arizona State University, the nation's 5th largest, the Mill Avenue District is abundant with shops, restaurants and a mileu for vacationers drinking in the Arizona weather, students and locals. An unusual feature of the avenue are the chirping birds who inhabit the Mill Avenue trees. Their songs bring a sense of refreshment and well being to this popular urban destination. Sky Harbor Airport is a scant five minutes drive and the Phoenix Zoo, Phoenix Municipal Stadium (spring home of the Oakland A's) and the Desert Botanical Gardens are just over the Mill Avenue Bridge.
